Rates (Foster Care)
Foster care rate paid at:
If Idaho is the receiving state for placement, the sending state remains financially responsible. If foster payments are to be made to the Idaho resource, the amount is determined by the sending state agency according to sending state statute.
As the sending state, Idaho will pay foster care reimbursement rates to licensed foster families as determined by the Idaho legislature under IDAPA 16.06.01.483-484 Child and Family Services.
Family Alternate Care Payments for Monthly Room & Board:
Ages 0-5: $395
Ages 6-12: $439
Ages 13-18: $584
Lowest level of need: $90 per month for a child requiring a mild degree of care for documented conditions including:
-chronic medical problems
-frequent time consuming transportation needs
-behaviors requiring extra supervision and control
-need for preparation for independent living
Moderate Level of Need: $150 per month for a child requiring a moderate degree of care for documented conditions including:
-ongoing major medical problems
-behaviors that require immediate action or control
-alcohol or other substance use disorder
Highest level of need: $240 per month for a child requiring an extraordinary degree of care for documented conditions including:
-severe emotional or behavioral disturbance
-severe developmental disability
-severe physical disability such as quadriplegia
Additional Payments:
For those children who require additional care above room, board, shelter, daily supervision, school supplies, personal incidentals, the Department may pay the family alternate care provider an additional amount. It is based upon an ongoing assessment of the child's circumstances which necessitate special rates as well as the care provider's ability, activities and involvement in addressing those special needs.

Requirements (Foster Care)
Foster Care Resource Requirements:
Training (Education and Training):
- Each foster parent shall comply with the following training requirements: Initial Training. Complete twenty-seven (27) hours of PRIDE Pre-Service Training. Required Training. Complete not less than ten (10) hours of training no later than one (1) year following the issuance of an initial foster care license. Complete not less than ten (10) hours of training on an annual basis following the initial training specified in these rules. Individualized Training. Complete training identified by the children's agency as meeting the individual needs of the foster parent(s). IDAPA 16.06.01.408
